Video Tutorial: Vintage Wave & Gibson Tuck (Ally's version)

I am so very excited to share with you all another vintage hair tutorial, it has been quite some time since my previous one so I am bringing it back with a bang!

Last week I posted an image of my daily hairstyle on Instagram (@allyvintage) and I had so many requests for a tutorial I simply couldn’t say no, the style is a Vintage Wave and (my version) of a Gibson Tuck, the reason I say “my version” is that it is an adapted technique to what you may see posted anywhere else, this involves side rolling and no assistance of an elastic or topsy turvy manoeuvre, so if your game to try a new version this is a good place to start!

I was so fortunate to have my incredibly talented man film and edit this video and I am sure I will rope him into filming many more in the future too!

If you have any questions or need some advice about this style please write them in the comment section and I will answer them as best as I can! Xx

Christmas Hair...

 photo photo_zps150cb1b8.jpg

I have been getting into the Christmas spirit and trying out a few different hair ideas, since its so darn hot here i have been wanting to just get my hair off my shoulders and a cute way to do it was a simple Betty Grable inspired up-do with holly that i chopped off the stem and pinned individually. Its so cute and easy..and although im sorry the photo isnt the best it will survive a full night dacing (tried and tested).

I will be taking a few days break from blogging while im stuffing my face with mince pies and lazing in the pool with a Christmas cracker hat on.

I hope you all have a Merry Christmas Xx

Frump to Fun...

On my weekends i usually spend a little time fixing up dresses that i have op shopped during the week to pop into the shop.

I thought i would show you how simple it is to breathe a little life into old and somewhat frumpy dresses to give them a new lease on life!

I spotted this dress amongst a pile of polyester blouses and instantly fell in love with the collar and buttons the hem wasnt a bad length and i knew by removing the sleeves it would be instantly cute!

Ta Daaa!! This literally only took me around an hour to take the sleeves off and its ready for the shop.

There are so many easy and simple ways to make a piece of clothing wearable again new buttons, raise the hem, take off the sleeves or even dye a different colour!

This dress will be up for purchase in the shop this week! I hope you like how the dress turned out as much as i did! Xx

DIY Christmas!

Photobucket

This Christmas i have decided i want to take on a few DIY projects, normally i am so rushed around this time of year i dont take time to really get into the handmade side of things! This is going to change my friends!!

I thought i would share with you my top four DIY's that i will be tackling in the next week or so.

Whipperberry posted an adorable Snow Globe how-to which i am completely in love with especially since they are in mason jars!! I think i will add a few forest creatures (plastic ones..dont get too excited there)to mine and jumble them all together..Love! Photobucket
I have lots of fond memories when i was younger stamping paper for presents with potatoes! My mother would get so tired of the constant whinging my sister and i would put her through during the holidays she would sit us down and let us go for it, it was always a win win since she would get crafted paper and we would be quiet for about an hour or so! I think this celery stamp idea is perfect..so perfect i cant belive i didnt think of this myself!! Geninne's Art Blog will give you a quick step by step on making it!

I desperately want to make these sprinkle filled baubles even though i am having visions of dropping one and forever finding sprinkles scattered through the house i am determined that i wont let my clumsiness get the better of me (better use a funnel) i mean come on! How cute are these?
DIY instructions can be found at the Little Gray Fox & Little Foto Fox Blog
PhotobucketThis by far is going to be the DIY that is going to test my patience but i am so looking forward to getting stuck into it! Our front door already has a wreath but i want to make a special one to replace it! im going to weave tiny red baubles through it too (just a few) fingers crossed it turns out as pretty as this one! Easy Peasy DIY tutorial for the wreath below is HERE

So now i have officially committed to doing these DIY's i will be able to share with you my finished pretty pieces, i am starting the paper wreath this weekend and have just the book to do it with too! Fingers crossed!! If you are looking for more christmas DIY ideas have a look at THIS list wahoooo!!! 100 to choose from.  Xx
