Glitter Gold...

Well to say this week has been interesting is an understatement! i have had an attack of the fuzzies (thats right i self diagnosed) which has left me head smacking a little more than usual! so far i have locked myself out of the house and had to consider setting up camp in my garage (thank goodness i had a banana to get me through until Z arrived to save me) had numerous ladders in my stockings, was so nicely given parking tickets & damaged my poor camera a little which leads me to the reason why i haven't posted much this week! So there...I have managed to ride out the rest of my week without acting like a complete dingbat so things are looking up! (fingers crossed i haven't jinxed myself)

Nothing like a little sparkle to pick me up though, i adore this collar and since the top was on sale and cheap as chips makes it even better! i wore this outfit yesterday and was still in love with it when i got home so i thought id take some snaps in my new study, im getting there slowly im just on the hunt for the perfect desk..which is proving harder to find than i thought! when its done ill be sure to post pictures (pinky promise)

Guess what!! Its Friday..Huzzah!! my weekend is going to be full of op shopping for exciting projects and the shop of course and hopefully squeezing in a little quality time with Z. XX

Gil Elvgren Before & After

I still find Gil Elvgren's before and after images amazing! im sure you all know or have seen his work before but i was flipping through his images this morning and thought i would share a few for whoever hasn't seen them.

Gil was an amazing American painter during 1930's to 1970's, his work is still very much admired and sough after (me being one) im mainly fascinated by the changes he makes from photo to painting, the light is basically the same and the facial features but changes like background, hair length and waist sizes are usually made, as the photos are only a reference for the model he still uses his imagination which i love.

Well i better get back to it instead of dreaming my time away! ill be back tomorrow with an outfit post!!

Cherry Bomb...

I took these photos this morning and i swear there was still frost on the leaves...i braved the cold a little to show off the whole dress! (i may have had a few, your crazy lady looks from passers by) i am so proud in fact because i actually altered this little cherry red dress myself which im pretty chuffed about!

Im guessing its a late 70's 80's production judging by the care tag, when i found it tucked away in the op shop it was sporting some rather large puffed sleeves which pushed it into the frump catagory but with the amazing collar i knew chopping the sleeves off would make it super adorable! Thoughts????

Im getting better at altering dresses im not an expert thats for sure, but its so satisfying to change a dress a smidge to become wearable again! i love breathing new life into forgotten clothes.

Tonight im off to dinner with the girls then a weekend filled with baby visiting,and super exciting projects!! Happy Friday XX

Nerding Out...

Every day i wake up and think about (usually loitering in my closet for ages) what im going to wear and which side of my personality is going to come out, sometimes its sexy 50's wiggle dress girl, bright print clash girl or like today nerd girl! Its safe to say i basically play dress ups every day but how fun is that right?

I bought these glasses from BonLook last year (much to my boyfriends amusement) just because i don't actually need them dosen't mean i cant wear them...(im happy with that justification..and im sticking to it) i seriously think he is just jealous because i look totally smarter now!

We have been having some crazy days of rain this week which has driven our poor trees around the house to suicide! we spent a few days propping things back up and checking our coi fish were alive plus all this weather is not agreeing with my hair grr...ive taken to spraying layers of hairspray to avoid looking like i put my finger in an electric socket! but after all of that banter i do admit i love the rain, especially when im at home, watching The Office and trying out new tea from T2! Yum!

Only A Paper Moon...

I wanted to share with you another obsession of mine, vintage paper moon photographs. i mean what's not to love? i will admit some vintage photos creep me out..the very surly straight faced awkward ones are a little too weird for me (i feel like they are staring through my soul...in a creepy im watching you way)but the paper moon photos are so full of joy and sillyness you cant help but think they are having an awesome time when these were taken!

Paper moon photos were usually taken at arcades or carnivals and were started by the man in the moon craze in the early 1900's the photos started to end roughly around the 1950's and i love that there are still images around that show a lighter side of portraits back then.

Ive taken to looking for ones to add to my collection and hopefully will have a nifty little box filled with them soon!

*The first photo is by far my favourite her smile is too adorable, and reminds me of my grandmother a little!

Clean White Love...

I normally steer away from white dresses, due to the fact..thats right! i can be a little grubby sometimes, im that girl who spills half her food down her top because i laugh with my whole body and hey! it just cant be helped.

But all practical thoughts were lost when i found this little number while op shopping a year or so ago, i don't wear it as much as i would like but to bring it out on a sun filled day is pretty swell! I feel like i should be either bowling or swing dancing in a musty hall! the collar is so amazing and although i have so many dresses that are similar i still love each of them the same! No woman should feel bad about owning 50 of the same style dresses..right?

I had a pretty relaxing weekend, went to the movies with my man, started decorating my studio, had a few glasses of red wine and an early breakfast on Sunday followed by stuffing myself with oranges from our tree and lazing on our couch in woollen socks! Perfect!!

And i am so so so looking forward to this weekend, exciting things happening thats for sure!! Happy Monday XX

Raven Red Jacket & Voucher Winner...

I couldn't resist sharing pictures of my recently op shopped jacket which actually came with matching shoes (which didn't fit of course) im totally getting a mod 70's/80's vibe and to match i then had to adjust the height of my hair..naturally!

I have been drawn to cherry red jackets this winter and picked up a few amazing ones for the shop update next week! my week has been filled with prepping the house for a few storms, finding my vintage gloves huzzah!! drinking way too much coffee and attempting to eat well for a day or two..which then unfortunately all comes crashing down...into a box of Oreos!

A weekend to remember...

Last weekend was one to remember for sure! So much joy in one weekend is a little too much to take i was so honoured to be a bridesmaid in my amazing friends wedding on Saturday and i know its been said many times before but this wedding was pretty perfect and i had been hanging out to wear the bridesmaid dresses! It was a cold day but not bucketing down which was so lucky, we woke up early on Saturday and spent the day getting ready Peta looked like a princess! We hopped on the tram to the church and it was all over before we knew it!

After we had a few photos we headed to the reception which had a photo booth..i think i visited over 20 times! each time a little more buzzed from champagne!! i only had my iphone with me so i only managed to capture a few pics of the day, nicer ones will come though and i can share them all with you!!

Then after such an amazing day on Saturday my sister went into labour and a little miracle was born Heath Thomas! he is the first boy in the family so its pretty exciting for everyone, she did really well and was out of hospital the very same day! I also went to visit my new born cousin Charlee! (its babies all around) so you can see what i mean by so much joy in one weekend!!!

Im still coming down from it all but it really was such an amazing weekend, im one lucky gal to be so blessed with wonderful friends and family! XX

Pastel Pink..

Today i pulled out a pretty pink vintage dress to cheer up my day, the weather here yesterday was something else! a mini tornado right here in Perth Australia can u believe it!

I love a vintage dress with a full skirt and a waist that fits perfectly it certainly encourages twirling (which with a bit of wind could be a little bit of a Marilyn Monroe moment) im still defying winter clothes although i think i can only get away with another week or so and then ill be forced to bring out the heavy jackets! (colourful ones of course)

Im so looking forward to an amazing day tomorrow at the wedding the weather is going to hold off which is good and the bride is going to look amazing! Our bridesmaid dresses are adorable and i cant wait to share a pic or two of the day! Tonight were having an old school pre-wedding sleepover that involves champagne, chocolate and face masks

Cranberry Crush...

Since it is a public holiday today i managed to sleep in and slowly get motivated to head out into the world after a few mugs of coffee, i found this amazing purple sweater while op shopping last week and was a little stumped on what to pair it with, but hey nothing like a double colour mash up, the skirt is a few shades darker than the sweater so they work together quite well!

I was feeling a little worse for wear after the sex & the city hens night on Saturday it was a pretty fun night full of games and lots of dancing!(my hair hasn't fully recovered from the Carrie hair frizz ball) the wedding is this weekend so i will be able to share a few pics of the bridesmaids dress afterwards, its pretty amazing!

Im off to go raid our orange tree, they are perfectly ripe and deliciously juicy yum! Happy Monday XX
