Gingham & Grey...

Last week while flicking through the racks at Lucy in Disguise i found this adorable puff sleeve gingham dream, i of course wore it dancing that night and managed to do a fair amount of twirling... even if i felt that it was more suited to frolicking in green fields singing "the hills are alive".

There is something so "yes" about finding the perfect gingham dress..i have another one in pink which i have worn like crazy, i think it may be just as simple as this gal just loves a good pattern! I paired it with some super comfy flats and an Alannah Hill cardigan with the prettiest beading, it is so light and breezy so its perfect for this warm transition weather we are having at the moment!

We also have a long weekend coming up which i am so excited about i am launching something pretty wonderful will be doing lots of dancing and date nights with my love...also i am going to THIS event to style hair and do a dance performance too so things are about to get busy and brilliant!

Happy Friday! Xxx

50's Floral...

This dress would have to be one of my favourite finds, my love and I spent a lazy Sunday afternoon last year in Memory Lane looking at all the pieces we could only dream of owning and then there she was, an original 1950’s handmade floral dream…and it fit.

Although the corners of the bust needed a little TLC it was basically in perfect condition, I tried it on and then had to do the sad routine of putting it back on the hanger and walking away because my bank account was screaming “Ahhhhh NO” at me…but my love is one super sweet sneaky man and paid for it while I was sticking my nose into a pile of gloves and had no clue! Totally surprised me!!

I wore it out on Saturday for coffee and a little vintage snooping before we had a little Valentines Day picnic, the breeze was perfect for a little twirling. I am also wearing a necklace that was gifted to me by my mother in law, I am trying to make more of an effort to wear necklaces and earrings…for some reason I always tend to shy away from them!

I hope you all had an incredible weekend! Xx

Birthday Bliss....

So where do i even begin to tell you all about my birthday(week)! I dont even have enough photos to do it all justice, but i will attempt to describe it to you all anyhow!

Last weekend my love surprised me with an afternoon of coffee tasting, eating, antique browsing, port drinking & SUPA GOLF!!!!!! (i write this in capitals to inform you of its amazingness) we spent the next few hours whacking large golf balls around a course shaded by the most amazing trees, i have never laughed so much before and i am so glad i have found a man who always finds the fun surprises, we then ventured out for a few drinks with friends to celebrate my impending 28th year!

My actual birthday was a whole day of surprises(and happy tears)and more surprises! I really was spoiled..flowers, vintage dresses, books, special notes and cake...all of the cake!!! But my favourite gift was from my love (one of many amazing ones), the brooch pictured above of the two lovebirds in marcasite! So incredibly beautiful and i will always cherish it!

I cant wait to start a whole new chapter in the New Year, turning 28 means i have lots of things to plan and achieve and i am excited to share it all with you along the way!

I hope your all getting ready for the Christmas crazy, we are jet-setting over to Melbourne next week so i will be spamming your Instagram feed with photos from the trip im sure. Xx

Rolled and Ready...

I thought i would do a small post today about one of my favourite hairstyles this week, i knew i was going to be heading out on a boat all day for my work christmas party so i made sure it was up and solidly hairsprayed, just so you know it was even still in place enough to teach a lindy class afterwards so..huzzah!!

Just a slight description would be a vintage fringe roll and Lucy rolls, its such an easy style i think i even may have to do a video tutorial for you all! I also wanted to show off my amazing magazines my love came home from Melbourne with, they are so hilarious to read i just love vintage articles!!

I hope you all have amazing plans for this weekend, i have lots of dinners and dancing and im sure lots of gin to be drinking too!!

Pastel Dreams...

At times I seem to be a little predictable when it comes to my colour selections, it is usually…always..pastels! Aside from being blonde I find stronger colours are less complimentary with my pasty pasty skin and plus I am just naturally drawn to a delicious mint tone or a dusty pink hue, it just sends my “oooh” radar through the roof!

I found this incredible 1950’s dress at Bluebird vintage the colour is incredible but it also has a subtle sparkle within the cream dots that adds a little bit of extra charm.

I wore it to a swing dancing ball around the middle of this year, it survived a full night of sweaty dancing so it is definitely still in great condition no loose stitching to be seen. Although it does fall into the “Occasionally” worn section of my wardrobe its so nice to know its there waiting for another special day/night.

I had the most incredible weekend, lots of eating and park dwelling with my love as well as a few too many G&T’s.

I hope you all had a swell weekend too and your week has started off well! Xx

Floral Swirls...

At times this week i could have sworn Summer had been long forgotten about, aside from a few moments of sun and warmth we have been having the most incredible thunderstorms it almost feels like a tropical island, steam rising from the ground as the cold rain splatters the dreary looking plants! The smell of rain always makes me think of when i was young, growing up on a farm in the hills..when it would rain my sister and i would run outside to our verandah and listen to it hitting the tin roof and watch it pour down our long winding driveway, it would always move the rocks apart so driving back down it the next day was always an (seriously bumpy) adventure).

This is today's outfit one of my favourite op shop finds, a handmade 1950's dress with the most incredible collar. I was also having a pretty good hair day too (at times it just drives me nuts) so much swirly goodness!!!

I hope you all have an amazing weekend planned, my love is finally home so im sure our few days off will involve christmas tree decorating and a few adventures!

Where The Air Is Sweet...

Yesterday i had the whole day to myself and started it by drinking strong coffee, eating chocolate pastries and reading 60's magazines in bed..it was slightly drizzling with rain outside so it made staying in bed a little longer all the more enticing!

When the rain cleared a little i decided to take a drive to the "zig zag" in Kalamunda, a place i used to visit a lot when i lived further south of the river, even though we are heading into the dry heat of Summer there was still a beautiful sprawl of green and the air just seems so much sweeter up there, hardly another soul around, the sound of distant birds chirping and roosters crowing from the farms below, while i was there i couldnt resist taking a few photos.

I was gifted this incredible 1950's print dress by my partner's mum and i adore it so, especially since i dont see many brightly patterned 50's dresses like this very often, it makes me feel like this piece is all the more special! It is layered underneath with its own petticoat so it makes standing up on a windy hill a little more fun!

I hope your all having an amazing Monday so far, i am already needing a third cup of coffee!!

Bluebird Bluebird....

A few months ago I fell in love with this incredible 1950’s wiggle dress, it would hang taunting me on the racks at Bluebird vintage and each time I would visit it would still be there begging me to take it home, I am pretty sure I tried it on each time too and begrudgingly put it back on the hanger thinking of ways I could muster the funds to bring it home before someone other lucky lady snapped it up.

One thing I can say about my love is that he is the most thoughtful man I have ever met, upon finding out about my dress crush he did what every woman dreams her man would do and surprised me one afternoon after swing dancing practice, I literally walked in the door like a sweaty mess and there it was hanging in the doorway…I am pretty sure I almost knocked him out with a flying hug and was on a natural high for the rest of the day! I truly am the luckiest lady.

So now I have all the plans and more for this little dress, it was already a favourite before it came to be mine but because my incredibly wonderful man gave it to me it will always hold a special place in my heart!

Homeward Bound...

There is no better way to cleanse the soul than a trip home to see family, yesterday the boy and i took the two hour drive up to Quairading and passed through York on the way to peek at the collectables and architecture, its almost a tradition now to make the stop off before the next hour or so drive. Oh gosh..i cant even begin to tell you how hot it was, in the photo of me i swear to you my makeup was running down my face..it was a true sign that Summer is well on its way in Australia so i am going to have to get my wardrobe ready to go!

I also filmed a hair tutorial over the weekend (as promised) so that will be up very soon! Eeep exciting!!! Life really is pretty amazing at the moment, i have exciting ventures on the way and lots of projects to get stuck into...plus i have the sweetest man who surprises me with "just because flowers" which look like they appeared straight from my dreams...the way to my heart is definitely through flowers...and food (of course).

Happy Monday!!

Swedish Hasbeens: Lacy Sandal

So here it is!!! the full review of the Lacy Sandal Swedish Hasbeens. It has been a few weeks since these clogs have graced my feet and the love affair still continues, we are almost reaching Summer here in Australia so the promise of balmy nights and long afternoon picnics is so close i can almost taste the watermelon and smell the sunscreen! I have many many Summer adventures to take these Hasbeens on..i cant wait!

It really is hard to choose favourites to be honest, the designs are based around the same clog base so you know whatever style you choose they will be comfortable, the use of leather focuses on proper support as well as the genious designs they manage to craft into the leather, if you mention t/strap lasercut floral to me..of course i'm sold! I am going to be honest here it did take me at least 5min to get used to walking in clogs again, the fact they dont have a flexible arch had me clonking around like Frankenstein for a little bit but then like anything if you stick at it for a little bit i was gliding around like they had been on my feet forever! They are absolutely my go-to shoe for the season and i am sure you will see them popping up on the blog alot more!

If you are absolutely in need of these amazing clogs you can check them out HERE I have the Dirty Pink Nubuck colour and although they appear darker on the website they are lighter in "real life" Swedish Hasbeens also have an amazing Instagram account too so make sure you pop on over and say hi to them!

So my weekend was pretty amazing...pizza and bowling date night with my man, Halloween swing dancing on Saturday night and a lazy Sunday of coffee dates and dodging rain showers (and cleaning...but there is no fun in mentioning that is there) i hope you all had an incredible weekend too! Happy Monday Xx

Swedish Hasbeens: Floral T-Strap

In every vintage loving woman's mind we have a very active list that entails our dream purchases, this list is always changing and growing depending on the season and as fast as these items are added they are replaced with even more desireable items. One thing on my 'want' list has always been a pair of Swedish Hasbeens! The ever so perfect clog with leather detailing and t-bar straps that sets your drool sensors into overdrive. The fact that they are perfectly matched with everything in my wardrobe is just an added bonus.

I am so lucky to be able to feature two pairs to you all and give my full and honest opinion on these damn dreamy shoes!I will be featuring them one at a time so ding ding, these are the first in line! I chose these powder blue "Floral T-Strap" clogs based on the fact they had three of my great loves when it comes to shoes a low heel, pastel colour and a solid t-bar strap. As i am already quite tall i tend to shy away from heels that make me feel like i am examining everyones hairline during a conversation and these are just the right amount of height.

I had a few reservations about the fact that they didnt come with any heel padding and was absolutely sure i would be hobbling around like a loony after about an hour of wearing them, but to my surprise they are EXTREMELY comfortable, i can last all day in them and not feel any strain on my feet at all so that shut me right up! The only thing i will mention is that they do take at least one wear to allow the leather to mold to your feet, they really do take on the curves of your foot so after a few wears they will be your go-to clogs.

You can also get these beauties in a range of colours just jump onto their website to have a little look! I am so excited to get some extended wear of these shoes as summer is coming just around the corner.

Follow them on Facebook and if your an Instaaddict like me they also have an amazing Instagram account too @swedishhasbeens Xx

Weekend Bliss....

So this weekend was filled with all of the amazing things, coffee, dancing, lazy morning sleep-ins and hanging out in 60's caravans at the vintage fair with my favourite guy!

Although there wasnt a huge selection of vintage clothing at the fair we mainly just drooled over cars and drank cider in the sun which is pretty alright with me! I thought i would break out an amazing pineapple print vintage skirt i bought a few weeks ago, it's in near perfect condition and fits like a glove..cant wait to add more kitsch fruit pieces to my collection!

I have a few projects planned for this week and i might even get around to fixing at least one dress in my to-do pile!

Hope your start to the week has been swell! Xx
