My Makeup Routine...

So when i had a few lovely comments from some ladies wanting to know my makeup routine i was a little hesitant to write about it, to be honest i have the same routine and look for the majority of the time and i may mix it up now and then but almost 100 % of the time its basically the same..dark flicked eyeliner, brown eyeshadow & red lips but i do love it.. im always hugely inspired by vintage makeup simply because its always so perfect and precise..

Here is the brushes and makeup i use, pretty basic really (sorry my blush is getting low)
  • Eco Brushes - i always use these they are eco friendly and the bristles are extremely soft
  • Rimmel Concealer - Hides my dark eyes in the morning
  • Revlon Colourstay Foundation - I have usually struggled to find a colour foundation that suits my skin tone and also dosent make me greasy half way through the day i have the weirdest skin, i think they would classify it as combination..
  • Nutmeg Frost Blush - I like a browner toned blush but i also go with a nice shimmery pink sometimes too, but i think with a red lip a browner tone works nicer (on my skin anyway)
  • L'Oreal Paris Brown Eyeshadow - For the creases and socket of your eye before you put your eyeliner on, adds a little sparkle to the eye and isn't too heavy.
  • Rimmel Exaggerate Eye Liner - I love love love this liquid eyeliner it took many many tries to find the right one with the correct tip, and ive never looked back (im also dying to try the Mac pot liquid too)
  • Mac Zoom Lash Mascara - This mascara goes on so nice and dosent clump at all.. i have the pack where there is about 5 different Mac short brush, fat brush, glittery mascaras, they are all amazing..
  • Max Factor Lip Liner - Really easy to use i hate lip liners that don't go on easily makes the lining so much harder, plus this red has less orange tinges to it.
  • Model Co True Red Lipstick - Being a blonde i never knew the rules for the appropriate colour but it did take me a few tries and some bad advice before i settled on something i felt comfortable with.. i think thats the main thing..to feel good about what your putting on your face not what someone told you to put on.

I mean just look at Veronica Lake and Lana Turner i always look at the different makeup styles they had but i mean i generally take inspiration from the 40's & 50's even though they had limited makeup options they always made it work, are they not simply amazing!! perfectly lined eyebrows and fluttering lashes i only wish i had half the ability..it took me so long to get the hang of liquid eyeliner im almost not game enough to try anything harder..although online tutorials these days are amazing!!

I found the cutest video online from the 40's oh my how have times changed, but i love watching all the grooming and deportment videos they are all too classic!! i adore her gingham skirt though.. i think im on the hunt for one now!!
So i hope you liked taking a peek into my everyday makeup..id love to hear what your must have items in your makeup bag are and if there is something i simply must try out..
Happy Friday

  1. "Sue avoids red nailpolish since it would call attention to her stubby hands". BAHAHAHAHA. Oh my gosh. I'm sorry but I burst out laughing at that line ;)

I love your vintage style Ally. Seriously you're stunning.

I've gotten the red dress hemmed and i'll be wearing it this weekend. I'm super excited :D

PS. I'm so excited for your new adventure (selling your vintage items full time). xo

  2. I loved this post. Thank you. I am a bit of a cosmetic junki and love taking a peek at other people's makeup. Especially though the blog world if they let us :) Then I love road testing and trialling new products. You've given me a few new ideas but love the eco tools brushes. Big fan of those <3 Dying to look at the video, will do so when I get home... Thanks again Ally. You're absolutely stunning.

  3. Such a great post! I also burst out laughing at poor Sue's stubby hands! Notice how her pj's match the sheets and dust-ruffle on her bed?

    Love your blog!

  7. It may basically look limited but the vintage appeal of that make-up style never falters. You know, everytime I see that old-school look, it still reminds me a lot of Eva Peron.
